Empirical work

The group’s focus is on developing detailed accounts of the learning process, particularly how learning emerges from students’ interaction with new media systems. We use a variety of data collection methods, to capture design requirements as well as to test our prototypes, including eye-tracking, behavioral experiments, qualitative studies, ethnography and concept analysis. Novel data analysis techniques have been developed to support our integrated research approach. We also do some basic science studies, mostly to understand the role of eye movements in thinking.

Currently, the key probing methods are eye tracking, log analysis and activity analysis.
